Most systematic reviews of clinical evidence are published in a small number of medical journals, which tend to have high impact factors. They are also cited twice as often as narrative reviews on the same topics.

A meta-analysis of clinical trials has shown that radiotherapy before surgery is an acceptable alternative to postoperative radiotherapy in the treatment of rectal cancer. Survival is further improved by chemotherapy after surgery.
