This section aims to publish research on health services in low and middle income settings as defined by The World Bank.

Healthcare needs and demand

This section aims to publish studies looking at the health care requirements of a population or community and research recommending ways in which to make changes to meet these needs. The section also accepts studies on the health services for which a population or community is able and willing to pay.

Organization, structure and delivery of healthcare

This section aims to publish studies looking at how health care is planned, organized and structured, including in terms of relationships among personnel or departments, as well as research on the provision of healthcare to an individual, group, population or community.

Quality, performance, safety and outcomes

This section aims to publish studies on healthcare quality practice and improving patient care and its safety. The section also accepts articles on changes in the health status of an individual, group or population resulting from interventions of the health care team.

Utilization, expenditure, economics and financing systems

This section aims to publish studies looking at a population's use of hospital services and their health and health-related expenditures. The section also accepts economic evaluations of health interventions and services and studies looking at recommendations for people to be able access needed services while avoiding catastrophic expenditure and impoverishment.
