The Zoological Society of Japan partners with BioMed Central

02 Jul 2014

BioMed Central, the open access publisher, is pleased to announce that Zoological Letters, the official academic journal of The Zoological Society of Japan (ZSJ), will be launched from BioMed Central's open access publishing platform.

Zoological Letters considers original contributions relevant to zoology and related fields in the form of original articles, review articles, short letters and case reports.

The journal will be led by Editor in Chief Shigeru Kuratani, Group Director of the Center for Developmental Biology at RIKEN Kobe, and an advisory editorial board.

Another official journal, Zoological Science, was first published in 1897 as a Japanese-based journal, and has become an English-based international monthly journal since 1984.

The publication costs for Zoological Letters are covered by the society, so authors do not need to pay an article-processing charge.

Deborah Kahn, BioMed Central’s Publishing Director said ”BioMed Central has great pleasure in announcing our agreement with the Zoological Society of Japan to publish Zoological Letters. The ZSJ is one of the oldest and most traditional, but also one of the most pioneering societies in Japan, and we are delighted that they have chosen to publish this new ground-breaking journal with BioMed Central. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with the ZSJ.”

Editor-in-Chief Shigeru Kuratani says: “Zoological Letters, an open access international journal, intends to publish important and valuable discoveries in various fields of zoology, which will interest researchers, not only in East Asia, but also all over the world. We aim to make this journal a high-quality top journal in basic and comparative zoology. To this end, we have organized Editorial Team and the Advisory Editorial Board of the Zoological Letters, consisting of world-class scientists

“We have also implemented a very efficient administrative system in the Zoological Letters for streamlining the whole process from manuscript submission to online publication for authors.
