A systematic review reveals few high quality clinical trials investigating the prevention of anapyhlactoid reactions to iodinated radiological contrast media; results suggest that H1 antihistamines and corticosteroids may have protective effects, but further research is needed.

When ultrasound is inconclusive, drip infusion computed tomography cholangiography, where the infusion rate is governed by serum bilirubin levels, is a safe and effective alternative to MRI for visualising hepatobiliary disease.
