Expression of Cousin of atonal (Cato) in Drosophila embryo
To examine the function of Cato in neural development, the latest time point of Cato expression in the Drosophila embryo was visualized. Cato is expressed in a subset of cells (green) that partially overlap with the expression of another neural bHLH transcription factor, Asense (Ase - magenta). Late expression of Cato protein is mostly associated with chordotonal and multidendritic neurons. The Drosophila embryo was visualized at stage 13, with immunohistochemistry performed with anti-Cato (green) and anti-Ase (magenta) antibodies.
