Modeling neurovascular coupling and BOLD fMRI

A multivoxel volumetric BOLD fMRI simulation model demonstrates strong, but not perfect, spatial correlations between MR images and magnetic susceptibility and reveals MR phase images that conform closely to susceptibility-induced fieldmaps.

Diagnostic imaging of small bowel disease

Video capsule enteroscopy (VCE) is not feasible for patients who fail to pass a test capsule, but MR enteroclysis and CT enteroclysis are sufficient for identifying small bowel disease, allowing VCE to be omitted or postponed.

Scope

BMC Medical Imaging is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on the development, evaluation, and use of imaging techniques and image processing tools to diagnose and manage disease.

It is journal policy to publish work deemed by peer reviewers to be a coherent and sound addition to scientific knowledge and to put less emphasis on interest levels, provided that the research constitutes a useful contribution to the field.

Quote

Sally Blower

"I strongly believe in the internet and open-access publishing in order to achieve scientific outreach both within academia and outside academia. Open-access allows anyone in the world with access to a computer to access scientific research. These innovative journals are becoming extremely successful and will change the nature of scientific publishing and increase the accessibility of science."
