Genes & Nutrition is going fully open access and moving to BioMed Central

Genes & Nutrition will be publishing exclusively open access articles and moving to BioMed Central from today.

The journal, which is published with The Nutrigenomics Organization (NuGO), examines the relationship between genetics and nutrition, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.

Co-Editor in Chief Giuditta Perozzi, Senior Scientist at the Food and Nutrition Research Centre in Rome, Italy said: “We believe that there is a clear emerging trend whereby authors in our field now prefer to publish via the open access model. BioMed Central has a fantastic reputation and a strong genetics portfolio, and we will be delighted to work with them.”

Ruth King, Editorial Director for Health Sciences at BioMed Central said: “Open access offers real benefits for authors. Articles are available for free immediately upon publication, and can be shared easily.

“A number of research papers have shown that open access articles are viewed more often than articles that are only available to subscribers, and are cited more often. This may be because they can be viewed by audiences who might not otherwise have had access to the research, including clinicians for example. We’re delighted to be publishing Genes & Nutrition.”

This journal examines the relationship between genetics and nutrition, with the ultimate goal of improving human health. It publishes original research articles and review articles on preclinical research data coming largely from animal, cell culture and other experimental models as well as critical evaluations of human experimental data to help deliver products with medically proven use.

The new journal website can be found here.
