Model 1: This simplified model is based on the assumption that all Ca²⁺ molecules are independent of each other and of interactions with a target protein. The relative simplicity of the model allows a straightforward description of CaM-dependent target protein regulation and lays the groundwork for a more complete understanding of cooperative- and target interaction-dependent effects.
