I'm surprised this paper does not refer to research by Jochen W. L. Cals et al. He and his colleagues have written extensively on the use of C-reactive protein tests to reduce antibiotic prescriptions. See PMIDs: 20666881, 20212299, 19416992, 19330269, 17394651, etc.
