Phases of viral decay under treatment. When treatment is initiated, plasma viral load undergoes a multiphasic decay, with
slower rates of viral loss as treatment progresses. One possible explanation is that
there are various classes of infected cells (Figure 1) with different turnover rates. This phenomenon makes it very difficult to predict
whether viral eradication is possible and how long it would take.
