BSA binds circulatory free fatty acids. Average ADIFAB F505/F432 fluorescence intensity ratios (RFU) measured in haemolymph samples collected 24 hrs after injection with either vehicle only (vehicle-vehicle), AAPH only (AAPH-vehicle), BSA only (vehicle BSA), or injection of both AAPH and BSA (AAPH-BSA). Note that timing and type of injections were identical as for the behavioral assessment depicted in Figure 6A. BSA-only injection significantly reduces F505/F432 ratio when compared with vehicle only injected animals. There is a significant increase in F505/F432 ratio after AAPH injection. This effect was eliminated in the combined AAPH-BSA treatment group. **pā€‰<ā€‰0.01.
