Schematic illustration of the electrospinning setup and three major components of
the experiment. Electrospun fibers were collected onto a flat plate collector to form meshes, and
collected onto a rotating mandrel to form guidance conduits. After scaffold characterizations,
the electrospun collagen/PCL meshes were tested with Schwann cells in vitro and guidance conduits were sutured to connect two stumps of a rat sciatic nerve lesion
in vivo (the suture was performed as shown in the figure).
