Petek et al. have failed to cite a previous study that has delineated the transcriptional response of S. aureus to fosfomycin and other conditions that block early-stage cell-wall biosynthesis (O'Neill AJ, Lindsay JA, Gould K, Hinds J, Chopra I. [2009] Transcriptional signature following inhibition of early-stage cell wall biosynthesis in Staphylococcus aureus. Antimicrob Agents Chemother. 53:1701-4).
