(a) shows the A+/T+ boundary and (b) shows T+/A+ boundary. TSSs of genes cluster near the A+/T+ boundary and have a tendency to occur downstream of this boundary, but avoid the T+/A+ boundary. The converse applies to the TES – see Figure 9.
