Additional File 1:

Spreadsheet summarizing the distribution, clustering, and fusions of bacterial and plant folate synthesis genes. This table represents a snapshot for the record of the "BMCgenomics 2007" table that can be found in the Folate Biosynthesis sub-system on the public SEED website http://theseed.uchicago.edu/FIG/index.cgi webcite. Clustering is shown by similar color backgrounds. Genome and protein IDs are from the SEED database. Abbreviations for the functional roles are given in the first page of the spreadsheet, gene distribution in all analyzed genomes in the second page. Note that the SEED table is the primary source to which the reader is directed; it is not static but develops with time as new genomes become available and predictions are tested and validated.
