Schematic representation of the various changes observed in the coding regions (green
arrows) affected by microsatellite indel mutations. In this illustration a hypothetical
microsatellite tract (AT)5 has been shown to undergo an indel of one repeat unit causing fission/fusion, premature
termination and length variation of ORFs. The bi-directional arrows (black) indicate
reversible nature of the microsatellite mutations.
