Multiple sequence alignments of a representative Chlamydiales-specific protein CT429 (A), and a Chlamydiaceae-specific protein CT712 (B). Both of these proteins are of unknown function and they
are uniquely found in the indicated groups of species. The sequence alignments for
all available homologs for these proteins are shown. Dashes (-) in the alignments
indicate identity with the amino acid on the top line (i.e. Chl. trachomatis sequence). Both these proteins contain many highly conserved regions suitable for
PCR primer design that can be used for diagnostic purposes.
