Note that Pa ATCC43949 experiences a long lag phase when grown at 37°C in LB which is abolished by the addition of human serum. The asterisks denote that bacterial cells grew as filaments at 37°C in a fashion similar to their growth in the presence of mouse macrophages (see Figure 11).
