The chtB mutant increases in frequency during the selection. Q-PCR using DNA from the entire population at the 1st, 10th and 20th generation (R1, R10 and R20) and using primers specific to the chtB allele, shows that the mutant chtB increased 26.4 fold by the end of the selection.
