The beginning and end of each arrow marks the phenotype frequencies before and after the respective step. As can be seen, selection tends to produce oscillations, whereas both induced and stochastic phenotypic switching tend to dampen these oscillation. Parameters used are (A) sX = sY = 0.5, (B) αX = αY = 0.2, and (C) μ = 0.1.
