Multiple sequence alignment of Barhl proteins. Conserved domains found in the Barhl proteins are shown. Consensus sequences of
the functional domains are in red brackets (A) FIL domain 1 is present in all vertebrates
but medaka. (B) FIL domain 2 is shared between all vertebrates, but can only be partially
aligned with Xenopus. (C) Homeodomain (conserved DNA binding motif). All Barhl2 proteins have an aspartic
acid residue at position 34, an alanine instead of serine at position 38 and an asparagine
residue instead of alanine at position 15 (asterisks). The blue background represents
the Blosum62 score: high similarities are in dark blue while lower similarities are
indicated in light blue.
