GAL locus motion analysis. (a, b) Mean square displacement (MSD) analysis was performed as described [18-20]. The displacement in μm of the GAL locus was estimated as the change in distance (Δd) over a period of time (Δt) in s. The square of the displacement (Δd2) was calculated as a function of time interval such that Δd2= {d(t)-d(t+Δt)}2, for Δt that ranged between 5 to 150 s. The graphs are the average of all Δd2 for each Δt from five single-nucleus image sequences of at least 5 min in length versus Δt. Error bars represent the standard deviation of Δd2 for each Δt across the five experiments. (a) MSD analysis for GAL loci not scored at the nuclear periphery in glucose conditions. (b) MSD analysis for GAL loci scored at the nuclear periphery in galactose conditions.
