Resolution: standard / high Figure 2.
Comparisons resulting differential expression of Nanog, Oct4 and Sox2. A multiple gene search for Nanog, Oct4 (pou5f1), and Sox2 in human studies showed that they were all significantly upregulated in abnormal sperm
morphology, and downregulated in malaria infection and cancer. Nanog (fold = 20.2, q < 0.0005), Oct4 (fold = 2.0, q < 0.0005) and Sox2 (fold = 2.3, q < 0.0005) were all significantly upregulated in the abnormal sperm
morphology compared to controls. Nanog (fold = 4.5, q < 0.0005), Oct4 (fold = 2.3, q < 0.0005) and Sox2 (fold = 3.0, q < 0.0005) were all significantly downregulated in the PBMC from malaria
infected patients compared to controls. They were also significantly downregulated
in various types of cancers, such as plasma cell leukemia and malignant melanoma.
