Metabolism

New Content ItemThe importance of metabolism beyond energy production and macromolecule synthesis has become evident in recent years. Increasingly, we appreciate the importance of metabolites and metabolic fluxes in cell signalling, post-translational modifications and cell survival, with implications for a range of diseases from cancer to diabetes and natural aging. Here we highlight some recent research from across the BMC Series that investigates the evolution, adaptation and regulation of metabolism.
