BioMed Central's Editors' Conference The future of scientific communications

BioMed Central cordially invites you to attend our Editors’ Conference at The Georgetown University Hotel & Conference Center, Washington DC on Wednesday 30th May 2012 from 13.00 -15.00.
BioMed Central’s Editors’ Conference is an annual event where a group of senior scientists from around the world, Editors-in Chief of some of our portfolio of over 230 journals, meet to discuss the future of scientific journal publishing, the growth of open access and how their journals can best respond to these. This would be a great opportunity for you to hear firsthand how scientific communication is changing, and how BioMed Central journals are leading developments in open access publishing.
We would love you to join us for lunch where you will have a chance to interview some of our top editors, who include for example.
· Professor Abraham Israeli – Editor –in-Chief, Israel Journal of Health Policy.
Prof Israeli is the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Health and Head of the Department of Health Policy, Health Care Management and Health Economics at the Hebrew University – Hadassah Faculty of Medicine.
· Dr Duanqing Pei – Editor-in-Chief, Cell Regeneration.
Dr Pei the Director General (President) at the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH), Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Guangzhou, China.
After lunch we will be holding a discussion entitled ‘The future of scientific communications’, with the panel:
· Dr David J Lipman – Editor-in-Chief, Biology Direct.
Dr Lipman is the Director of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Institutes of Health.
· Dr Teh Jeang – Editor-in-Chief, Retrovirology.
Dr Jeang is Chief, Molecular Virology Section at the National Institutes of Health.
· Julia Lane - Program Director, Science of Science and Innovation Policy National Science Foundation.

The Editors’ Conference coincides and is co-located with BioMed Central’s conference on “Metabolism, Diet and Disease - What’s going wrong? The connection between cancer and obesity and what we can do about it.”
