This series originates from a selection of papers based upon presentations at the 8th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES), held in Dubrovnik in 2013.
The SDEWES conference series focusses on a multi-disciplinary approach necessary to achieve noticeable progress towards sustainability. Therefore, the papers presented in this series cover a wide range of issues related to a change of energy generation and use in our current society. This profound change, however, requires a systemic approach, looking at the energy system in a holistic way addressing complex issues with innovation potential at the interface of science, environment, technology and society. This systemic approach is reflected in the papers of this series.
