BMC Medical Research Methodology is calling for submissions to our Collection on Patient-centric approaches. Patient-centric approaches mark a paradigm shift towards placing individuals at the core of the research process, emphasizing collaboration, shared decision-making, and the incorporation of patient-reported outcomes.

This collection invites articles exploring innovative strategies that delve into the integration of patient voices, needs, and experiences throughout the research process. Submissions focusing on collaborative frameworks, shared decision-making models, and the utilization of patient-reported outcomes are highly encouraged.

Violeta Moizé Arcone, RD, PhD, Hospital Clinic Barcelona, Spain

Violeta Moizé Arcone's research and clinical duties are focused on nutrition, bariatric surgery (BS), diabetes and dyslipidemia in a multidisciplinary and integrated team. She is devoted to help patients suffering from obesity and plays an active role in preventing nutritional complications associated to BS. Violeta has developed strategies to promote healthy habits using a comprehensive a non-stigmatizing motivational approach, and she is a national and international speaker on obesity, motivational interviewing, and bariatric surgery. Violeta is an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona and a Visiting professor at Sunderland University.

Yitka Graham, PhD, BSc (Hons), FCMI, FRSA, CMgr, University of Sunderland, UK

Yitka Graham is a Professor of Health Services Research and Head of the Helen McArdle Nursing and Care Research Institute at the University of Sunderland, UK. Prof Graham's research is focused on patient experiences of healthcare interventions, encompassing a biopsychosocial approach. Her research is always in collaboration with patients, from design to dissemination, ensuring meaningful and impactful studies which can lead to positive change in provision of development of  healthcare services. Prof Graham's research has been published and presented globally.

Tito R. Mendoza, PhD, Office of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, Center for Cancer Research, US National Cancer Institute, USA

Dr Mendoza received his PhD in Quantitative Methods and his MS in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also obtained an MEd in Research and Measurement from the University of Toledo. After earning his doctorate degree, he joined the faculty of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and served for 25 years. He is currently a senior scientist with the Office of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research at the US National Cancer Institute. He is a psychometrician who was instrumental in the development and validation of several multi-symptom and single-symptom assessment tools. His collaborative interests are in the design, analysis, and interpretation of studies incorporating patient-reported outcomes in early-phase clinical trials.

The Editors have no competing interests with the submissions which they handle through the peer review process. The peer review of any submissions for which the Editors have competing interests is handled by another Editorial Board Member who has no competing interests.
