Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic relevance of neuro-immune communication

New Content ItemEdited by Sangeeta Chavan, Colin Reardon, and Niccolò Terrando

This is a cross-journal series between Bioelectronic Medicine and Molecular Medicinewhich will delve into different aspects appropriate for each journal.

Bioelectronic Medicine- "Neural control of inflammation in preclinical and clinical bioelectronic medicine research"

The Bioelectronic Medicine portion of this cross-journal series calls for submissions exploring the interface between the nervous and immune systems during health and disease with relevance to bioelectronic medicine. It will also cover emerging areas such as the neuronal regulation of innate and adaptive immunity and its therapeutic relevance. It welcomes contributions of any of the following article types: Original Research Article, Perspective, Review, Mini Review, Methodology, Opinion, and covering, but not limited to, the following topics:  neuroimmune mediators in health and disease; the gut-brain axis; peripheral immunity, inflammation, and infection in the regulation of brain function; neural control of innate and adaptive immunity; neuroimmune interactions in neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders; relevant bioelectronic technological developments.

This collection of articles has not been sponsored and articles have undergone the journal’s standard peer-review process.

Molecular Medicine- "Reciprocal interactions between the immune system and nervous system"

The Molecular Medicine portion of this cross-journal series calls for submissions focusing on the molecular mechanisms at the interface between the immune and nervous systems in health and disease and the therapeutic exploration of this insight. It will also cover emerging areas such as the neuronal regulation of hematopoiesis and innate and adaptive immunity. It welcomes contributions of any of the following article types: Original Research Article, Perspective, Review, Mini-review, Opinion, covering, but not limited to, the following topics: neuroimmune mediators in hematopoiesis; neuro-immune interaction in homeostasis and disease; neuro-immune interaction during neuronal development; neural control of innate and adaptive immunity; molecular mechanisms underlying development of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders; single cell maps and networks in neuroimmune communication.
