Alexandre Pazetto Balsanelli, PhD, Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Brazil

Dr Alexandre Pazetto Balsanelli is a nurse, doctor of science, and professor at the Department of Health and Nursing Services Administration at the Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Federal University of São Paulo. Serving as a permanent professor in the postgraduate nursing program, Dr Balsanelli also leads the Study and Research Group on Health Services Administration and Nursing Management (GEPAG) and is currently the coordinator of the undergraduate nursing course. With extensive experience in nursing administration, Dr Balsanelli's research focuses on management, education in nursing and health, and leadership and managerial skills in nursing and health.

Abdelaziz Hendy, PhD, RN,  Ain Shams University, Egypt

Dr Abdelaziz Said Hendy is a Lecturer of Paediatric Nursing at Ain Shams University in Egypt. His research aims to advance nursing care quality, nursing administration, leadership, and outcomes for paediatric and neonatal patients by engaging nurses in evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement (QI) initiatives to enhance knowledge and promote the adoption of best practices. Dr Hendy's distinctive expertise in EBP and QI methodologies has positively influenced interdisciplinary healthcare teams' understanding and implementation of evidence-based strategies. He has demonstrated skill in teaching and learning, with successful dissemination of studies utilizing innovative educational approaches to engage learners and improve outcomes. Dr Hendy's extensive experience in academic roles, spanning undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education, has provided him with comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation across various nursing programs.

About the Collection

Nursing management and leadership play a crucial role in the delivery of healthcare services. Strategic management, leadership styles, and governance within nursing organizations can have a significant impact on the respective institution, its nursing staff, and patient outcomes. Advancing and applying our knowledge of nursing management and leadership is crucial for effectively addressing the ongoing challenges in healthcare delivery.

To meet the demands and challenges of modern nursing practice, management, and leadership need to remain dynamic and responsive to the needs of the patients and nursing staff.  The empowerment of nursing teams and promotion of a culture of continuous improvement, such as fostering continuing education and cultural sensitivity training, can be achieved by transformational leadership. Recent research has emphasized the role of strategic nursing management in improving healthcare quality and delivery and patient safety initiatives, especially when team leadership and interprofessional collaboration are encouraged

We welcome submissions that explore various dimensions of nursing management and leadership. Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Nursing leadership styles and their influence on staff performance and patient outcomes
  • Evidence-based practices for optimal nursing management
  • Challenges and roles of nurse administrators in healthcare
