About the Collection

BMC Ophthalmology is calling for submissions to our collection on Laser Refractive Surgery Complications: Epidemiology, Prevention, and Management Strategies. Laser refractive surgeries, including LASIK and PRK, have revolutionized vision correction, but they are not without risks. Complications such as dry eye syndrome, epithelial ingrowth, flap complications, and regression can occur, impacting visual outcomes and patient satisfaction.

The aim of this collection is to delve into the epidemiology of these complications, explore strategies for prevention, and discuss effective management approaches. Therefore this collection welcomes research articles that include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Complication epidemiology
  • Surgical techniques for risk reduction
  • Addressing epithelial ingrowth
  • Flap complication management
  • Innovations in postoperative care
