Nasim Chiniforush, DDS, PhD, University of Genoa, Italy

Dr Nasim Chiniforush, DDS, PhD, is a member of the Department of Surgical Sciences and Integrated Diagnostics, University of Genoa, Genoa, Italy, where she completed a Fellowship in laser dentistry. She served as the Head of the Laser Research Center of Dentistry at Tehran University of Medical Sciences from 2021 to 2023 and was a Director for the Leading House of Iran Switzerland Academic Partnerships from 2019 to 2023. She is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) and the Country Representative for the World Federation of Laser Dentistry (WFLD).  She has authored three books on laser dentistry and continues to contribute as reviewer in highly indexed journals.

Jacek Matys, DDS, PhD, Wroclaw Medical University, Poland

Jacek Matys, DDS, PhD, MS, serves as an Assistant at the Department of Dental Surgery at the Medical University of Wroclaw and is a recipient of the Minister of Education and Science's "Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists" (2021-2024). He successfully completed a two-year postgraduate program, earning the title of Master in Laser Dentistry at Sapienza University of Rome (2016-2018). Additionally, he holds the position of Coordinator of the European Master Degree in Oral Laser Application postgraduate studies at the Medical University of Wroclaw and acts as the Treasurer of the Polish Society of Laser Dentistry.

BMC Oral Health is calling for submissions to our Collection, Lasers in dentistry.

Lasers have revolutionized the practice of dentistry, offering precision, minimally invasive, and patient-friendly solutions across a wide spectrum of oral health disciplines. From soft tissue procedures to caries removal, endodontics, periodontal therapy, and even diagnostics, lasers have played a pivotal role in enhancing treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. This collection seeks to explore the diverse applications of lasers in dentistry and their impact on patient care, clinical workflows, and scientific research.

This Collection will showcase research exploring laser applications in dentistry, including but not limited to: 

  • Soft tissue procedures with lasers
  • The use of laser surgery in dentistry
  • Laser cavity preparation techniques
  • Advances in laser periodontal treatment
  • Laser biopsy procedures and the uses of lasers in diagnostics
  • Lesion management with lasers
  • Photobiomodulation in dentistry

  • Interdisciplinary research in laser dentistry
  • Future trends in laser-assisted dentistry

The Editors have no competing interests with the submissions which they handle through the peer review process. The peer review of any submissions for which the Editors have competing interests is handled by another Editorial Board Member who has no competing interests.
