6th International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics

This collection published in Genetics Selection Evolution contains reviews from speakers and delegates at the 6th International Symposium on Functional Animal Genomics (ISAFG 2015), held in Italy on the 27th-29th July 2015.

After the endeavor of sequencing the whole genome of all major species, livestock research is facing new challenges: to understand the function of genes and the control of their expression; their interaction with nutrients and the environment; the understanding protein and metabolite networks; and the role of the microbiota on animal health and production.

The purpose of ISAFG 2015 was to bring together academic researchers, industry representatives and policy makers to exchange knowledge on the leading-edge developments in functional genomics and its applications in the livestock sector.
