BMC Public Health is calling for submissions to our Collection on Gender equality in education. Gender equality in education is the pursuit of equal opportunities and outcomes for all genders within educational systems. The focus on gender equality in education is not just an academic concern; it is a practical approach to fostering inclusive societies and promoting better public health outcomes. The collection invites contributions on diverse topics, including gender perspectives on the right to education, disparities in educational opportunities based on gender, effectiveness of gender-sensitive educational interventions, strategies for achieving gender equity in educational settings, and the health implications of gender-sensitive education.

Salvador Baena-Morales, PhD, University of Alicante, Spain

Dr Salvador Baena-Morales, with a distinguished background in environmental health, focuses on how physical education and coeducation promote sustainability and well-being. As s leader in integrating UN Sustainable Development Goals into education, he has contributed to many high-impact journals. His interdisciplinary approach combines quantitative and qualitative methods to assess educational impacts on health. Advocating for gender equality in education, Dr Baena-Morales collaborates with educators and health professionals to influence public policies. He is a faculty member at the University of Alicante, as well as, a lecturer in various international master's programs, and his work underscores the transformative role of education in public health and sustainability.

BMC Public Health is calling for submissions to our Collection on Gender equality in education.

Gender equality in education is the pursuit of equal opportunities and outcomes for all genders within educational systems. Research on this topic is extensive as it addresses critical issues affecting societies worldwide. By investigating disparities and biases in education based on gender, researchers aim to identify and rectify barriers that hinder equal access to learning. The focus on gender equality in education is not just an academic concern; it is a practical approach to fostering inclusive societies and promoting better public health outcomes.

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

The collection explores various aspects of education with a focus on gender-related perspectives and their implications for public health. We welcome submissions looking at but not limited to:

  • Gender perspective on the right to education
  • Disparities and barriers in educational opportunities based on gender
  • Educational practices addressing gender differences, programs responding to specific gender needs and assessing their effectiveness
  • Integration of gender sensitivity into educational curricula and practices, effectiveness of gender-sensitive educational interventions
  • Strategies for achieving gender equity and parity in educational settings, policies and interventions for gender equality in education
  • Health implications of gender-sensitive education and inclusivity
  • Education's role in shaping health outcomes and its impact on students' well-being
  • Unique challenges faced by individuals in education and their relation to public health

This Collection welcomes submission of original Research Articles.
