Zhe Wang, PhD, The Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, USA

Dr Zhe Wang is an Instructor in the Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She earned her PhD from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in 2018. Dr Wang’s research integrates emerging epidemiological, genomic, and bioinformatics approaches to understand genetic contributions to cardiometabolic diseases. She has been an active member of many large genetic consortia like NHLBI TOPMed, NHGRI PAGE, and CHARGE, leading various genetic epidemiological projects. Dr Wang has published more than 30 papers and led several impactful research in high-impact journals like Nature Genetics and Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology.

Chen Yao, PhD, Bristol Myers Squibb, USA

Dr Yao, a distinguished bioinformatics analyst, adeptly employs omics data for disease inquiries, specializing in drug discovery algorithms using RNA-seq, DNA methylation, and proteomics. At Bristol Myers Squibb, Dr Yao leads Omics biomarker analysis for cardiovascular diseases. Previously at the NIH, his multi-omic research focused on COVID-19 and cardiovascular diseases. With over 30 publications, Dr Yao's studies have been recognized among the top ten topics for discussion at the American Heart Association Scientific Session, showcasing his significant contributions to the field.

About the Collection

BMC Medical Genomics is calling for submissions to our Collection on Genomics of cardiovascular diseases.

Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death worldwide. Whilst considerable insights into risk factors have been gained in the past decades, there is still an incomplete understanding of mechanisms of disease.

Deeper knowledge of the underlying genomic factors is essential for the development of improved risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Using state-of-the-art technologies can provide further insight into clinically relevant conditions and the mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases.

This Collection welcomes submissions on the identification of genetic markers associated with cardiovascular diseases, the molecular mechanisms underlying disease pathogenesis, and the potential for personalized medicine approaches based on genomic data.

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health & Wellbeing.
