BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is calling for submissions to our Collection on Ending preventable stillbirths.

This Collection aims to highlight factors contributing to fetal death and explore avenues for prevention. In light of advancements in maternal and neonatal healthcare, stillbirths continue to be a global health challenge, driven by complex factors such as maternal health, fetal development, genetics, environment, and healthcare accessibility. Expanding research efforts have the potential to enhance clinical practices and public health policies, thereby aiding the global initiative to eradicate preventable stillbirths.

About the Collection

BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is calling for submissions to our Collection on Ending preventable stillbirths.

Despite advancements in maternal and neonatal healthcare, stillbirths persist as a global health issue with profound emotional and physical implications. The varied causes of both antepartum and intrapartum stillbirths are often complex, and include interactions between maternal health, fetal development, genetic factors, environmental influences, and healthcare accessibility. Understanding these factors is essential for the development of effective interventions and healthcare strategies to reduce the number of stillbirths. Further research in preventing stillbirths has the potential to inform clinical practices and public health policies, ultimately contributing to the global effort to eliminate preventable stillbirths at all stages of maternal healthcare.

BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is launching a new Collection, Ending preventable stillbirths, to highlight factors contributing to fetal death and explore avenues for prevention. The Collection invites researchers and clinicians in fields including obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, midwifery, neonatology, pathology, genetics, and maternal health to contribute research that explores topics including, but not limited to, the impacts of maternal health and lifestyle on stillbirths, antenatal care strategies, genetic risk factors, advances in maternal health interventions, and the effects of sociodemographic disparities in perinatal care.

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
