BMC Oral Health is calling for submissions to our Collection on Dental trauma.

Encompassing a diverse range of topics, including preventive measures, traumatic injuries management, emerging technologies, restorative techniques, multidisciplinary approaches, psychological impact, and public health interventions, the goal of this Collection is to enhance patient outcomes. From insights into preventive strategies and patient education to collaborative management involving various dental specialists, the Collection seeks to contribute to reducing the incidence of dental trauma and improving overall care through comprehensive research and knowledge dissemination.

Patrícia Corrêa-Faria, PhD in Dentistry/Pediatric Dentistry, Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil

Dr Corrêa-Faria holds a PhD in Dentistry (Pediatric Dentistry) and is an adjunct professor at the School of Dentistry at Universidade Federal de Goiás. Her interests lie in dental trauma, enamel defects, oral health-related quality of life, children's behavior during dental treatment, and clinical trials.


Sumir Gandhi, BDS, MDS, Christian Dental College, Ludhiana, India

Dr Sumir Gandhi is a consultant Oral Surgeon and former Professor and Head of the Department at Christian Dental College, CMC, Ludhiana, India. He graduated from Punjab Government Dental College and Hospital, Amritsar in 1998 and pursued post-graduation at the same institute in 1999. Dr Gandhi has numerous research publications in international journals. His areas of expertise include dental implants, maxillofacial trauma, and TMJ replacement.

BMC Oral Health is calling for submissions to our Collection on Dental trauma.

Dental trauma is a critical aspect of oral health that necessitates continuous research, advancements, and dissemination of knowledge to improve patient outcomes. This Collection aims to bring together cutting-edge research, innovative strategies, and evidence-based practices that address the challenges posed by dental trauma.

This Collection aims to cover a broad spectrum of topics related to dental trauma, including but not limited to:

  • Preventive measures and education: Insights into preventive strategies and patient education to reduce the incidence of dental trauma in various age groups and populations.
  • Traumatic injuries management: Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for dental trauma cases, encompassing enamel-dentin fractures, luxations, avulsions, and other related injuries.
  • Emerging technologies and imaging: Utilization of advanced technologies and imaging techniques for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Restorative techniques: Novel restorative materials and techniques to rehabilitate dental trauma cases, focusing on aesthetics and long-term functional outcomes.
  • Multidisciplinary approaches: Collaborative management of dental trauma cases, involving orthodontists, endodontists, periodontists, and other dental specialists.
  • Psychological impact: Understanding and addressing the psychological impact of dental trauma on patients.
  • Public health interventions: Evaluating the impact of public health programs on reducing dental trauma incidence and improving access to timely care.
