About the Collection

BMC Digital Health is calling for submissions to our Collection, Digital health economics. Understanding the economic impact of digital health is essential for steering the course of global healthcare. Thus, this Collection aims to explore the cost-effectiveness of digital health technologies.

While rapid technological innovation has gained momentum, evidence supporting digital health’s economic advantages is still limited. Uncovering the cost-effectiveness of digital health interventions has the potential of reducing expenditures and reshaping healthcare systems, while continued exploration promises even more profound breakthroughs – from refined financial models optimizing digital health investments to novel financing mechanisms democratizing access. By understanding the economic impact of digital health technologies, we not only enhance the sustainability and equity of healthcare systems but also pave the way for innovations that prioritize the well-being of individuals and communities on a global scale.

We invite contributions that examine a wide range of topics relating to digital health economics, including but not limited to:

  • Telemedicine economics: exploring the financial implications of widespread telemedicine adoption.
  • Digital health solutions cost-effectiveness: assessing the economic value of diverse digital health interventions.
  • Remote patient monitoring economics: analyzing the economic outcomes of remote patient monitoring technologies.
  • Health data analytics and economic impact: investigating how health data analytics influences healthcare costs and overall economic outcomes.
  • Telehealth reimbursement strategies: examining the economic considerations in reimbursement models for telehealth services.
  • Economic evaluation of digital therapeutics: assessing the cost-effectiveness of digital therapeutics in healthcare.
  • Wearable devices and health economics: exploring the economic implications of wearable devices in health management.
  • E-health policy and health insurance: analyzing the impact of e-health policies on health insurance and overall economic stability.
  • Mobile health economics: investigating the economic aspects of mobile health applications and their impact on healthcare costs.
  • Electronic health records and financial efficiency: assessing the economic efficiency of electronic health record systems in healthcare delivery.
