The articles for this special collection in Journal of Physiological Anthropology were selected from the Invited Session by the Japan Society of Physiological Anthropology at the 1st Asian Conference on Ergonomics and Design (ACED2014), which was held on Jeju Island, South Korea on 21-24 May 2014.
