New Content ItemBMC Digital Health is calling for submissions to our Collection presenting novel developments and applications of virtual reality in a healthcare setting including, but not limited to, surgery, including robotic surgery, mental health and psychological therapy, pain management and physical therapy. Research exploring the use of VR as a medical training tool and also to raise awareness of health conditions will also be considered.

Philippe J. Giabbanelli: Miami University, USA

New Content ItemDr Philippe J. Giabbanelli is an associate professor of computer science and software engineering at Miami University. He previously worked as a research at the University of Cambridge (UK) and taught at several nationally ranked American universities. He has published over 100 articles and served as editor for several special issues, in addition to his service on the editorial board of several journals (BMC Medical Informatics & Decision Making, Intelligence-Based Medicine, SIMULATION, Social Network Analysis & Mining).

New Content ItemVirtual reality (VR) is a relatively new technology that is already proving to be an essential tool to both clinical researchers and medical practitioners. 

BMC Digital Health is calling for submissions to our Collection presenting novel developments and applications of virtual reality in a healthcare setting including, but not limited to, surgery, including robotic surgery, mental health and psychological therapy, pain management and physical therapy. Research exploring the use of VR as a medical training tool and also to raise awareness of health conditions will also be considered.

This Collection welcomes submission of Research Articles. Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure you have read our submission guidelines. Articles for this Collection should be submitted via our submission system Snapp. During the submission process you will be asked whether you are submitting to a Collection, please select "Virtual Reality in healthcare" from the dropdown menu.

Articles will undergo the journal’s standard peer-review process and are subject to all of the journal’s standard policies. Articles will be added to the Collection as they are published.

The Guest Editors have no competing interests with the submissions which they handle through the peer review process. The peer review of any submissions for which the Guest Editors have competing interests is handled by another Editorial Board Member who has no competing interests.
