Philippe J. Giabbanelli: Miami University, USA

New Content ItemDr Philippe J. Giabbanelli is an associate professor of computer science and software engineering at Miami University. He previously worked as a research at the University of Cambridge (UK) and taught at several nationally ranked American universities. He has published over 100 articles and served as editor for several special issues, in addition to his service on the editorial board of several journals (BMC Medical Informatics & Decision Making, Intelligence-Based Medicine, SIMULATION, Social Network Analysis & Mining).

BMC Digital Health presents this Collection highlighting novel developments and applications of virtual reality in a healthcare setting including, surgery, especially robotic surgery, mental health and psychological therapy, pain management and physical therapy. Research exploring the use of VR as a medical training tool and also to raise awareness of health conditions was considered.
