Perioperative Medicine is presenting a new Collection on "Right Heart Dysfunction in Perioperative Medicine – Physiology, Assessment and Treatment".

We are pleased to announce a Collection of papers focused on right heart dysfunction in the context of the perioperative care continuum. The increasing prevalence of right ventricular dysfunction in both cardiac and non-cardiac perioperative medicine provides an opportunity to review the fundamental principles underlying its particular physiology, how best to assess right heart function, and what pharmacological and non-pharmacological (mechanical) treatment options are available. We hope this Collection provides a succinct yet comprehensive summary of the field, and provides some management guidelines for busy clinicians who must take care of patients with right heart disease.
