About the Collection

Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology is calling for submissions to our Collection on Prevalence, Cost-Effectiveness, and Outcomes of Medical and Social Egg Cryopreservation. This collection aims to explores the essential and dynamic area of egg cryopreservation, paying attention to the various dimensions of egg freezing, a technology that is becoming increasingly significant in both medical and social spheres. Authors are invited to submit articles on egg cryopreservation, covering medical and social aspects, including rates among women with medical conditions and demographic influences on non-medical decisions. The collection also welcomes innovative contributions on economic analyses of egg freezing, including treatment costs, comparisons with other fertility preservation methods, and discussions on insurance coverage and accessibility. The issue presents the potential for understanding the outcomes of egg thawing, fertilization success, and live birth rates from frozen eggs. It explores the possibilities of long-term health and developmental outcomes for children born from cryopreserved eggs, as well as the psychological and social possibilities for women who undergo egg freezing, including satisfaction rates and mental health implications. In conclusion, this special issue provides comprehensive insights into egg cryopreservation, covering prevalence, cost-effectiveness, and outcomes. It aims to inform clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and patients about the current state and future directions of this technology, facilitating informed decision-making in reproductive health.
