Maternal Health, Neonatology and Perinatology is calling for submissions to our collection on Pregnancy and thyroid dysfunction. Thyroid hormone is essential for female fertility and fetal development. Occurrence of thyroid dysfunction is frequent in pregnancy- causing early pregnancy loss, pre-eclampsia, prematurity and congenital abnormalities. Even a milder form of thyroid dysfunction or thyroid autoimmunity cause adverse outcomes during pregnancy. Universal thyroid function screening for women at higher risk for thyroid disease is recommended. Researchers have gained insights into the physiology, detection and treatment of thyroid disorder during pregnancy. Modern assays and technologies to diagnose and treat overt thyroid continue to evolve. This article collection welcomes manuscripts depicting the recent advancement in the field of thyroid dysfunction and pregnancy.
