Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) remains a prevalent gastroenterological condition that affects individuals across the globe. As the understanding of GERD continues to evolve, so do the therapeutic approaches aimed at alleviating its symptoms and improving patients' quality of life. This collection serves as a platform to consolidate the latest research advancements and clinical insights into GERD's current developments and therapeutic strategies.

Jimin Wu, MD, PLA Rocket Force Characteristic Medical Center, China

Dr Jimin Wu is the chief of department of gastroesophageal reflux surgery at PLA Rocket Force Characteristic Medical Center. He is the chairman for GERD branch and hiatus hernia group in clinical practical technique branch in CPAM, and the vice chairman for GERD branch in the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He is one of the few surgeons who focus on the diagnosis and treatment of GERD in China. He had published over 100 papers and initiated five China GERD Week publicity campaign. He had also initiated the GERD specialist alliance in China, hold the largest GERD meeting in China each year and lead in two multidisciplinary expert consensus on the management of GERD in China.

Mónica Rocío Zavala-Solares, MD, PhD, Universidad La Salle de México, Mexico

Dr Mónica R. Zavala-Solares is a postgraduate professor at the School of High Studies in Health of Universidad La Salle de México and has a clinical practice in Hospital Angeles Centro Sur, Mexico. She has a clinical and academic interest in Esophageal disorders (manometry, gastroesophageal reflux, motility), neurogastroenterology and oropharyngeal dysphagia. She has written several national and international original papers and reviews, and participated in national consensus of experts. She is a member of the Mexican Association of Gastroenterology (AMG), Sociedad Latinoamericana de dysphagia (SLAD), Mexican association of neurogastroenterology and motility (AMNM) and Mexican dysphagia society. Dr Zavala-Solares is recipient of the Basic research award of the AMG 2016 with her PhD thesis in Medical Sciences.
