About the Collection

BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies is calling for submissions to our Collection on Anxiety and stress-related disorders: the role of botanicals.

This Collection aims to explore the potential of botanicals in managing anxiety and stress-related disorders. We welcome submissions that cover, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Investigating how botanical compounds interact with the nervous system to alleviate anxiety and stress.
  • Clinical trials that explore the effectiveness of botanical interventions in managing anxiety disorders.
  • Understanding the impact of botanicals on neurotransmitters and hormonal regulation relevant to anxiety and stress.
  • Assessing the potential risks and side effects associated with the use of botanicals for anxiety management.
  • Contrasting botanical treatments with conventional approaches to determine their relative benefits and limitations.
  • Perceptions and attitudes of patients and healthcare providers towards the use of botanicals for improvement of well-being.

Anxiety and stress-related disorders continue to pose significant challenges to global mental health. Botanicals, with their historical usage in traditional medicine, have emerged as promising candidates for promoting relaxation and mental well-being. With this collection, we seek to support and amplify research related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being.
