Avian evolution and ecology are both constant evolving research topics. During the last 10 years, they have become more close-related than ever. The interplay between avian evolution and ecology has uncovered by novel and innovative approaches, such as the development of new DNA sequencing technologies. Several other methodological and theoretical advances have also contributed to this exciting research topic. This thematic series aims to reveal the interplay between wild bird evolution and ecology.
