UNIANDES in his institutional development plan 2011 – 2015 has structured as a transversal objective: internationalization. Our goal: Be a leader and reference in higher education in Latin America, for excellence, relevance and significance of their academic programs, quality teaching and research. Through our 18 high quality Doctorate programs, our faculty, researchers and PhD students are contributing to Colombian development providing to problem solving through research that generate new knowledge or new technology. Our doctoral students must complete an internship abroad for at least 6 months. By 2012 of the 185 PhD students who have completed internship, 43% were in universities from the European Union. These internships strengthen our international relations and cooperation with research groups from universities in more developed countries. We also offer every year tens of summer schools led by distinguished international faculty as an important opportunity for our students. For UNIANDES this mobility is the main instrument to create the awareness of an interconnected world where only mutual understanding among peoples and nations can guarantee peace and development.
