Published articles in BioMed Central and SpringerOpen journals will be paid by the Open Access Publication Fund of the University of Freiburg.

The submitting or corresponding author has to be affiliated with the University of Freiburg.

The authors have to acknowledge the funding of the publication fee in their article, e.g. by using this sentence:

"The article processing charge was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the University of Freiburg in the funding programme Open Access Publishing."
