The University of Edinburgh has a pre-payment account with BioMed Central for papers funded by RCUK, Wellcome Trust and certain other charities, as well as a Supporter membership which constitutes a 15% discount which is available to all University of Edinburgh authors.

Before submitting a funded article please email openaccess@ed.ac.uk to receive an account code which can be used to authorise payment of your publication charges.

If you are not eligible for funding but are listing your institutional affiliation as University of Edinburgh you will receive the 15% discount. Please note, if you are submitting a manuscript from within the institutional IP range listed for our institution, the discount will be automatically applied.
If you are submitting a manuscript from outside of the institutional IP range, follow the submission process as normal. On the APC agreement page, choose the option "I believe that I am covered by an institutional membership arrangement" and then select our institution from the drop-down list.
