New from BMC Medicine

• Calories and epigenetics in the control of aging
Tollefsbol and colleagues review the evidence for the effect of epigenetic regulation in response to caloric restriction and how it might contribute to clinical advances in treatment and prevention of human aging-associated disease.

• No evidence for modern-day "smoker's paradox"
"Smoker's paradox", the phenomenon of smokers having lower mortality risk after acute coronary syndrome than non-smokers, was originally observed about two decades ago, however, treatment advances, including routine early invasive management, mean this phenomenon no longer holds true.
