Open Access Advocate/Institution of the Year Award

This award recognizes institutions which have done most to show leadership in taking steps to expand access to the published results of scholarly research. This award is not open to the public.

Case Report of the Year

This award is given to the authors of the best medical case report published in a BioMed Central journal. This award is open to the public, and is judged by Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Medical Case Reports, Prof Michael Kidd.

Open Data sponsored by LabArchives

Data sharing, its preservation and re-use, is an increasingly important part of scientific research and the publication process but there are many challenges associated with openly sharing scientific data, particularly when sharing goes against cultural or community norms. We recognize researchers who have published in BioMed Central journals and have demonstrated leadership in the sharing, standardization, publication, or re-use of biomedical research data.

Editor of the Year

Our growing portfolio of journals depends heavily on the dedicated work of our Editors. This award recognizes the significant contribution made to one of our journals by an Editor. This award is not open to the public.
